How it works
Daily saving = shiftable kWh × (peak rate − off-peak rate). Monthly = daily × 30.4; yearly = daily × 365. The bigger the gap between your peak and off-peak rates, the more shifting usage is worth.
Frequently asked questions
What can I shift to off-peak?
Anything flexible: dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, EV charging, and battery or hot-water heating. Timers and smart plugs make it automatic.
Is a time-of-use tariff worth it?
If you can move a meaningful share of usage to off-peak, often yes. If most of your use is during peak hours, a flat tariff may be cheaper.
Does this include standing charges?
No — it only shows the saving from shifting usage. Compare full tariffs (including standing charges) with our electricity bill calculator.
