How it works

Watts = amps × volts × power factor. For DC or resistive loads, power factor is 1, so watts = amps × volts. A lower power factor (common for motors) means fewer real watts for the same current.

How many watts is 10 amps?

At 120 V and power factor 1, that’s 1,200 W. At 230 V it’s 2,300 W. Voltage matters, so enter yours above.

Do I need the power factor?

For DC and simple resistive devices, leave it at 1. For motors and some electronics, a value around 0.8 is more accurate.
