How it works
Daily cost = watts ÷ 1000 × hours per day × rate. Monthly cost = daily × 30.4. Seasonal cost = daily × heating days per year. Like all electric resistance heating, a thermostat or timer that limits run time is the main way to save.
Frequently asked questions
Are “efficient” electric radiators cheaper to run?
For the same heat output, no — all electric resistance heaters are ~100% efficient. Smart controls help by heating less, but a heat pump is the real efficiency upgrade.
Electric radiator vs central heating?
For heating a whole home continuously, gas central heating or a heat pump is usually cheaper. Electric radiators suit heating one room occasionally.
Do thermostats save money?
Yes — a thermostat cuts power once the room is warm, so the heater is not running at full wattage the whole time.
